Tasmanian Travails

March 7, 2017

I have decided that I really need to get to Tasmania more often!

Recently, I had the privilege of exploring one of the island's most iconic and beautiful locales - Freycinet National Park.

The east coast of Tasmania is an absolutely incredible part of the world and Freycinet peninsula is without doubt the jewel in the coast's crown.  I highly recommend spending a number of days exploring this amazing and diverse corner of Tasmania.

The main town is Coles Bay, her backdrop is the incredible 'Hazards'. A group of mountain tops that form a large part of the peninsula. A spectacular spot to witness an epic sunrise.

I was invited to do a commercial and tourism photo shoot for Wineglass Bay Cruises and boy was I glad they asked!

Not only do you get to explore some incredible coastline on the 33 foot catamaran but you will also experience some magical wildlife along the way. The big five are Whales, Dolphins, Seals, Sea Eagles and Albatross...don't be surprised if you get to witness all five on the one cruise!

We set sail on what could only be described as a 'moody' day.  However, I really felt that the weather helped accentuate the grandeur and mystery of the area.  Stormy clouds and a glass like harbour make for a magical setting. The staff at Wineglass Bay Cruises were nothing short of exceptional and it was an absolute honour to work with them on this project.  They really did look after us incredibly well.

While exploring Freycinet we were very fortunate to stay at the amazing Freycinet Eco Retreat.  What an incredible place! Not only is the location absolutely superb but the variety of wildlife in and around the retreat is nothing short of phenomenal.

Freycinet Eco Retreat is set high on the hill, just outside of Coles Bay.  It has views towards the Hazards looking one direction and the ocean looking the other direction. Phillippa and Virginia were incredible hosts and I would certainly like to stay there again if the opportunity ever arises. It is one of the most tranquil and relaxing environments I have ever been in.

Thank you Tasmania for an amazing experience.  I can't wait to get back and explore more of you soon!
